10 Ways To Practice Self Care

Take a nap

Take a nice long afternoon nap or go to bed earlier to give your body some extra rest that it desperately craves. Getting on a healthy sleep schedule routine is a great way to keep your body and mind balanced to function correctly.

Take a bath

There is nothing quite as relaxing and calming as soaking in a hot bath. While you're at it, light a candle or two, read a book, listen to soothing music, and relax.

Declutter your space

Whether it be in your bedroom, closet, car, email inbox, desk, etc. Get rid of the excess and junk that's been lingering for so long. Some studies have shown that living with clutter can stress us and bring us down mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Try journaling

Take ten minutes out of your day to jot down whatever is that's been heavy on your mind. Mentally release those things as you write. Invest in an inexpensive notebook or journal and grab a pen. Writing down your feelings can not only be extraordinarily relaxing but can also be therapeutic in many ways.

Meditate

Begin or end your day with a few moments of deep breathing and remaining focused awareness of your body, thoughts, and feelings. If you are new to meditation, there are plenty of resources to check out, such as Youtube videos, books, articles, tutorials, and more to help you get started.

Digital detox

Go on a media and technology detox for a day or two and shut off any unnecessary electronic devices. Sign out of social media and focus on yourself for a change. Instead of spending your day scrolling through Instagram and Twitter, shut your phone off and do something productive and beneficial for your mind, body, and soul.

Pamper yourself

Throw on a face mask, give yourself an at-home mani and Pedi, lotion your body up, do whatever you need to do to feel better on both the inside and out. Doing some at-home pampering can make a world of difference in the way you think.

Call a friend

When you're feeling down and in need of a spirit booster, call a friend that brings out the best in you. Connecting with positive influences is a great way to lift your spirits and make you feel good all around.

Work out

Endorphins are your very best friend when it comes to self-care. Spend at least 30 minutes a day being active and breaking a sweat. Whether it be going for a run, walk, jog, bike ride, yoga class, pilates, etc., it is essential that you move your body and stay active.

Listen to music

Sometimes just merely blasting some good music and dancing in your underwear is just what you need to lift your spirits for the day. Play your favorite songs that lift your mood and make you feel happy to be alive.
