Alpha-hydroxy acids or AHAs are viral in modern skincare products, especially glycolic and lactic acid. They exfoliate the surface of the skin, unclogging pores, and smoothing uneven skin texture. Limiting these acids will help acne-prone skin become much calmer and less likely to experience a breakout.
Exfoliation of the skin can help remove excess dead skin cells. If these cells live on your skin for too long, they will clog your pores and eventually likely lead to breakouts.
Eat a balanced diet
Limit processed carbs, including white bread and baked goods. Cut back on sugary sodas and sweets and eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy protein sources. Another critical factor is to limit alcohol consumption as much as possible.
Change your pillowcases
Although we don't typically notice it, our pillowcases are usually filled with dust, oil, and bacteria. Changing yours regularly is essential if you sleep on your front or side to avoid those pesky breakouts and a dreaded pimple when you wake up in the morning.
Wash twice a day
If you are prone to breakouts or have super oily skin, never skimp on washing your face as part of your morning and night skincare routine. Always wash your face twice a day, at a minimum.
